season of changE

Free Spirit Studio just got notice that the property has been sold and new landlord wants the old tenants out! This was sudden and unexpected. It may take some time to find a new studio. This is hard news to take because this studio is so awesome! Before vacating (by the end of August 2025), you know we had to do one final art lesson! We did some fluid art/pour painting and it was a blast :) Not sure where this free spirit will fly next but I do know it will continue somewhere in the field of art/education.

studio update!

June 1, 2025 is the official 1 year anniversary of owning and running Free Spirit! I'm proud to have been able to keep the business running while also teaching art at 7 different schools this past year. I've learned how meaningful yet hard managing and promoting a business is... and also that it is not what I want to do (at least right now). I'm going to keep the studio open for personal artistic endeavors however am no longer promoting or advertising for classes.

As of November 1, 2024, Free Spirit is now located in a bigger, nicer spot near the Santa Barbara Zoo.

humble beginnings...

Free Spirit first opened its doors in June 2024 in a small 200 sq. foot hallway located in the Funk Zone Art Gallery (Santa Barbara, CA). We had some good times but ultimately it was just too small for our dreams.
